Mig The trial is on Saturday 13th February. It doesn't clash with the NW Stages which is on the weekend before. OK for me too, at long last, as I will not be working that weekend. My driver says it is a fantastic event in and around Keswick/Bassenthwaite area of the Lakes. Organised by Fellside Motor Club. Myke Poc-ock is the man to get in touch with if you want to offer your services. www.actc.org.uk/clubs/fellside.htm

I have emailed Myke this afternoon asking for details of the stages & timings and will post them as soon as they are available. I did try their website but there wasn't anything there to pass on.

This just in from 'up North' .... To: Steve Wilkinson, Liverpool Motor Club Dear Steve I would be pleased if you could pass this information on to your club members. I am writing to let you and your club members know that Fell Side Auto Club is, once again, organising and running the Northern Classic Trial on the 13th February 2010. Classic Trials consist of a number of off road competitive sections , usually 12, and two timed Special Tests all connected by road miles. Competitive sections are typically up hill, rough, rocky, rutted, slippery or a combinbation of some or even all of those! The object on a competitive section is to get from the bottom to the top without stopping, something that needs skill and knowledge to achieve. Normally competitors need to posess a relevant competition license to enter and compete on classic trials. However many classic trials, ours included, run a Class O. This is designed to appeal to those who own more delicate vehicles or those that want to try out Classic Trialling for the first time. For that reason organisers tend to make the event slightly less challenging for those entrants and they would therefore not be expected to tackle perhaps one or two of the more challenging hills. Entrants in Class O would not therefore need to be in posession of a competition license. In addition, a specialist trials vehicle is not necessarily required to compete in that class. In 2008 a local driver bought a vehicle off ebay and very lightly prepared it to withstand the rigours of the trial. After completing and thoroughly enjoying the competition he then sold the vehicle with no financial loss! He is, once again, to enter the 2010 trial with presumably an ebay special. Anyone wanting to find out more about Classic Trialling should go to www.actc.org.uk/ or www.themotorcyclingclub.org.uk/ If any of your members would like to receive the Northern Classic Trial Suplementary Regulations and an Entry Form, please ask them to send their name and addresss to me on myke poc ock@yahoo.co.uk (NB the myke poc ock bit is all one word but has to be broken up as the site doesn't like the reference to the male hen.) Alternatively I can be contacted on the phone number below and, as I am a classic trialler myself, would be able to give any additional information required. Yours faithfully, Myke Poc-ock Chairman and Competition Secretary
