It's on folks! Despite having lost some of its regular venues (eg Pontins), the North West Stages Rally is running with a new HQ & 6 Stage venues in 2010. The date has changed too! LMC will be helping at this well established rally for modern cars, based at Blackpool and visiting various spectator, and non-spectator, venues in the area. 80 stage miles in total, including 10 miles in the dark on Friday night. Two venues for the Friday evening stages 5th February. Six venues on Saturday, all daylight (just?) 6th FebruaryMarshals will be required both days, and assistance with setting up on Friday too. If you can help on Friday (afternoon/evening), contact Mark Carter mark.rallypoints@yahoo.comIf you can help on Saturday, keep calling back here in the New Year for more info about LMC's involvement. www.nwstages.co.uk/

I will more than likely be attending, but only because my 2008 mug is looking rather sorry for its self! Am i safe to assume LMC will only be running/ assisting stages on the Saturday?

Yep, LMC's official contribution will be to help Stockport 061 with the Weeton stages on Saturday 6th Feb. Members may of course be interested in helping the organisers set up Weeton & other stages on Friday, & marshal on Friday evening too. To be invoilved on Friday, contact mark.rallypoints@yahoo.com If you want to help on Saturday at Weeton, please post a message below, or contact John Harden via www.liverpoolmotorclub.com/about/contact-us/Marshals' volunteering lists are now open for both days.

Hi Dougie, I've put you on my list for Weeton on 6th. Very poor response so far, just 6 volunteers in total from LMC Looks like signing on is from 10.30am to 11.30am, First car 12.30ish, Last car 18.30. As soon as I get confirmation I'll let you know.
Progs: yes, I'm definitely interested, Cheers!

Dougie, I am Hijacking John's Post Here
Directions to Weeton obviously depend on where you live, but try this A59 to Preston out of Preston take the A583 towards Blackpool, then pickup the A585 go north on A585, turn left onto the B5269, continue for approx. 1 mile and then turn left,
Please note this is an Active Military Army Base, there is only one way that you can access the venue. the camp is situated on the right, use the second entrance on your right.
Don’t forget the “Speed Camera 40 mph ” it is, just off the M55 @ J3. (A585)
Or M6 / M55 From the M55, leave the motorway at junction 3 go north on A585, turn left onto the B5269, continue for approx. 1 mile and then turn left, the camp is situated on the right, use the second entrance on your right.
« Last Edit: Yesterday at 6:53pm by speedsport »
(Just follow the Weeton Camp signs after you leave the motorway)
I stand to be corrected John, but on recollection of last years visits to Weeton, I do not recall The Camp Being Signposted, ( Possibly for Security Reasons ?? )

Times now confirmed:- Signing on is 10.30 to 11.30am at WeetonCar Zero due 12.45 Course closing car due 18.20pm Can you help? Please let me know as soon as possible so that I can let the event organisers know how many of us are likely to turn up. The response hasn't been good so far! Note that there is no catering on site, so you will need to bring your own food, though there have been goody bags provided in the past. I need to let the organisers know how many will be required, so dont leave it till the last minute!! After the nice relaxed time for signing on, the cars will be visiting the venue twice, and on each visit will be running the stage twice, so there should be action continuously for most of the day. The final stage will run partly in the dark, adding another challenge for the competitors. John Harden 0161 969 7137 or www.liverpoolmotorclub.com/about/contact-us/ or post a message here

Message from Ken Wilkinson, Stockport MC who is chief marshal for the Weeton Stages:-Hi everyone Thanks for volunteering to marshal at Weeton on Saturday. I can confirm that the event times are:- Signing on 10.30 to 11.30Gates close 11.45 (no access after this time, even for marshals!) Clock Car 12.28 Car Zero 12.53 (approx) Car 1 13.03 Last Car 18.15 (est based on 80 cars finishing) Course Closing Car to follow last car. When you arrive, look for my British Racing Green MG ZS, which will be my signing-on office. Regrettably, there isn’t any food van on site for the NWS this year, so you need to bring food/drink with you as well as plenty of warm/dry clothing. I have asked for everybody to be signed on by 11.30, so that we can all find our junction without a last minute rush. I hope to provide all marshals with stage diagrams, so that you can follow the event and also it will help you to assist us to change the stages around, once the closing car has been through the first pair of stages, mid afternoon. As usual, at the end, we would be very grateful if all marshals could clear up their junction afterwards, stacking cones, kicking over/emptying barrels (always satisfying) etc. so that they can be collected by the tidy-up team afterwards. I am looking forward to seeing you all on Saturday. Regards Ken

It is a deffinate no from me this year.
Partly the lack of willing to drive up the M6 AGAIN, stupid road. Partly because i'm working a cold shift (thats vehicle testing at -20c!)
