Stockport Motor Club will be running their SMC Stages rally at Weeton Barracks on Sunday 28th March. This single venue Tarmac (!) rally for modern cars is expected to have an excellent entry and makes for quite an exciting day out. We have been asked to help man the event once again. If you can help, make a note of the date in your diary & keep calling back for more details which will be posted here as we get them! Volunteers: please contact John Harden (it's him again!) by posting a message on this forum, or send a message via:- www.liverpoolmotorclub.com/contact-us or phone John on 0161 969 7137 And there will be a proper food bar this year - the Army catering corps has been sacked 'cos they couldn't cope!

This very competitive and compact single venue rally is run by Stockport 061 MC and they aim to run 12 stages covering approximately 50 miles on a mixture of quick and twisty roads all on tarmac, coupled with quick stage turnarounds, giving everybody a good day’s motor sport. We are running the flying finish & stop line, and any other points that we can cover. Signing on is between 07.00 – 08.00, (don’t forget to put your clocks forward!) First car due around 09.00 Last car due at 18.00. Can you help? Please let me know so that I can inform the event organisers know how many of us are likely to turn up. A burger bar has been arranged to provide catering for this event, (the Army team that tried & failed to feed everyone last year has been given the push!) Click www.stockport061.co.uk/SMC_Stages_2010/marshal.htm for more information for Marshals, but if you volunteer via me, there is no need to also contact the organisers. Come along and see how LMC’s own Howie Macpherson & John McGuinness get on in Howie’s bright yellow Ford Puma Cosworth on just the second event since he acquired the car. It’s a bit of a handful after his Mk2 Escort. The old Mk2 is now in the hands of Mike Riley of Wallasey MC, and he is joined by LMC's Comp Sec, Phil Gough in the left hand seat. Get ready for a scrap!

Stockport 061 MC are getting rather desperate for help on this one. Their Start Line Crew has just pulled out and as we are already running the finish, we cannot also cover the start as well. Actually, we are only just able to provide enough people for finish by co-opting two from Accrington MSC/CSMA.
Can you help?

Just a quick note to thank all of you who turned up for the SMC stages and did a sterling job at the flying finish all day despite the sometimes dangerous position. Cheers guys.

So that's Jim, Don, Andy, Steve & Dave on the finish, and Pete, Brian, and Andrew & Son out on the course (somewhere!). Thanks everyone and to Phil, Mike, Howie, John, Keith and all the other crews who took the trouble to thank the marshals for helping. Not the warmest of days (unless you were inside a car) but a fun day nontheless!
