We have a full house of 145 competitors plus several reserves waiting for someone to drop out! And with 50 odd Caterham Academy drivers having their first ever competitive event, it could be a busy day!!

Well, thanks to a whole range of silly niggling problems that continued to crop up at various times throughout the day, the sprint on Saturday isn't going to go down in history as one of our best ever. But as far as our competitors are concerned, it was a pretty good event that they thoroughly enjoyed.
On behalf of the organising team (and the competitors) many thanks to everyone who helped set up, marshal and strip down the event. You all did a superb job. And why was Marshal of the day Jon Hunter? Well, I've never seen anyone sprint so fast, so far, carrying a full extinguisher, and still have sufficient breath and energy left to help tackle a car fire. He must be superhuman!
Thanks again everyone, you all did us proud! Will we see you again for the Track Day on 28th May &/or the next sprint on 25th June? I do hope so!

Appologies for the half day Saturday, i had completely forgotten about the sprint and had made other plans for the afternoon. Sounds like the afternoon had a few more 'events' than the morning?

I think the description I am looking for is that it was a "challenging" day! Personally, I was rather disappointed with several aspects of the day, but our a comment from one of our regular competitors has cheered me somewhat.... he said that it was clear that all was not going as smoothly as it should, but it was also patently clear that everyone was doing everything possible to sort out all the glitches, so with that in mind, the competitors were perfectly happy with the event. What a nice chap!!

Many thank's for your most welcome comments towards the Marshal's and Officials who turned out on Saturday , I would also like to express my many thanks as, "The Marshal's Coordinator" to the encouraging numbers that we had on the Marshals side of things, some 20 Adults mainly Trackside and 6 Juniors/Cadets in Paddock Assembly Area, plus 2 Cadets of age to be allowed Trackside ( with certain restrictions ) some having travelled as far as North Wales - Cumbria - Coventry and Northwich, anyone that I may have missed out or overlooked my apologies. As has been said many times in the past, and no doubt will be said many times in the future all over the world, " Without Marshals & Officials the Event Can Not Take Place " PS:- Good to hear that you made your personal best time. Pete.

And when he returned to his start line position he had hardly broken sweat. I suggest Jon that you enter the 2012 London Olympics 100m dash with a fire extinguisher immediately 'cos you will win the Gold.

And, thanks to "Pete the coordinator" too for rustling up so much help from Oulton etc. What a terrific turnout. I do hope we shall be seeing many of you again at the coming events at Aintree during the year. You all did a highly professional job for which we are most grateful. And, just in case anyone gets the wrong impression having read above about marshals "not being paid enough".... the marshals, rescue crew, officials etc all give their time free, as volunteers. Of the officials, only the medics, scrutineers and timekeepers receive payment for helping at events. Our marshals get £10 towards their travel costs, and we give 'em a buffet lunch. And that's it! So, once again, many thanks marshals - you are the best!!
