Yes, we are! Though not officially invited yet! and I'm the conman, contact. More info when I get it. Geoff Oh yes we have been! Ken Wilkinson of Stockport 061 MC says: "Legend Fires North West Stages – Saturday 4th February www.nwstages.co.uk As with last year, there are also 4 stages on the Friday night at Clifton & Blackpool Promenade, (for anybody that wants some excitement, the Prom can’t be beaten on a dark, windswept night).
Stockport 061 is running 6 stages on Saturday, in 3 pairs at Weeton. Signing on is between 7.30am-8.30am, with a finish at approximately 6pm, so a full day of rallying, and home in time for a Take Away. John Stone will once again be topping the quality entry list but who knows in what. For those who helped out last year, you will remember that I got the weather forecast spot on with a biblical flood, so be warned – bring your life jacket as well as water proofs. And don’t forget, HOT FOOD, (no butter on mine thanks), as none is provided. You should also get a nice pressy from The Organisers."If you are interested in helping on Friday, please contact Ken Wilkinson directly on 0161 432 3490 / 07771 742 692 marshals@stockport061.co.uk To volunteer to help on Saturday at Weeton, please post a message here, or contact Geoff Maine on 0151 521 5060

North West Stages is getting closer. Have you volunteered yet? Please tell Geoff Maine if you can help.
If you get a "Wish you were here" postcard from the organisers and have told Geoff that you are helping as part of the LMC team, there is no need to contact the event's chief marshal as well.

Roll up, roll up! More volunteers needed! Some of our regulars can't make it this year, due to health matters , we're not getting any younger! So know's the chance to gain valuable experience & hopefully enjoy the only major Stage Rally to take place in our region.

The weather forecasters are suggesting (actually more than just suggesting!) snow by afternoon, so please do make sure you bring appropriate clothing & footwear and food/drinks. Make sure too that you have a reasonable amount of fuel in your car for your journey home. Oh, and don't forget the speed camera just after you turn off the M65 in the morning!
There is no catering provided at Weeton for this event, so you will need to be self sufficient with food & drink.
Bring a torch too, as the final 2 stages will be running in the dark. This looks like being quite an interesting event!
If you want still more after we have packed up at Weeton, it is feasible that you could go across to the Rally Village at the Norbreck Castle in Blackpool and see the cars arrive at the finish, though you might miss the first few crews.
Have a great day everyone, and keep warm.
The next event that we will be helping with will be the Tour of Cheshire, at Chowley Oak between Chester & Nantwich on Saturday 3rd March. More information on the Forum as soon as we get the times.

Naff weather, thats an understatement, i got trapped in Amsterdam for 36 hours, ended up sleeping in the kiddies jungle gym as it was the only place with a soft floor. At least it was warm!
So where are the pictures? And more importantly what was this years freebie? I rather liked last years lunch pale. And still have my mug from 2008.

It's nice to be appreciated! 'Please can you pass on to all your club members who marshalled at Weeton on Saturday my sincere thanks for all their hard work in running the six stages in increasingly awful weather conditions. Like all the marshals helping at every venue they did a fantastic job in what I would consider the worst conditions I have encountered on a rally for many years, they must have been frozen and soaked and yet they stuck at it, I hope none are now nursing pneumonia. I feel so lucky and guilty to have been in a relatively warm and certainly dry car all day' Les Fragle Start Radio @ Weeton I would like to add my heartfelt thanks for all the help which you gave us on Saturday, to make the stage run so smoothly, in absolutely atrocious conditions. I think that Les has got it slightly wrong though. They weren’t the worse conditions in many years, they were the worse conditions EVER. Ken Wilkinson Chief Marshal Stockport061 MC

So where are the pictures? This quick snapshot is all I wanted to risk in the conditions. It was taken around 3pm. By the time we packed up, the freezing rain had totally obliterated the headlamps (thanks Andy for chipping the ice off so carefully) and the icicles had merged together into a sheet of ice totally blocking off the lower radiator grille. Next morning, I emptied half a bucketful of ice from the gazebo that we'd had at the finish line! I've never experienced freezing rain before & it's fair to say, it was flippin' cold. So cold that Kevin's butane gas hotplate wouldn't even boil a kettle inside his van! Oh, and thanks for use of your Transit windbreak mate!
