OK so I did put you off! Never mind there's another training session on 15th. June, details as above. This session is Fire Training which is applicable to Marshal's in all disciplines. I might be going, I might not?

Don't let it get you down Geoff, people don't go to the training days I go to either. ;D Good to know 2 off us are keeping up our marshalling skills, not just moaning about it like some others

could we not do something at Aintree or even 3 sisters, for those who have limited access to a car. Why not have a mock incident at Aintree for everyone to get to know the drill, should the worst happen.

Good idea Jon, altough I can not see this happening ? once again this would be a question of hiring part of the circuit or at least part of the Aintree Complex in order to facilitate this, and we would most probably be upsetting the " Golf Fraternity ".

We could just delay the start of a trackday for an hour or so? If we told the drivers why I'm sure they would understand. But everybody would have to be prompt for the agreed time. That we are not upsetting the 'golfer's'. The drivers could watch, so they know what will happen in the event of a incident.

Whilst that suggestion seems reasonable on the surface - what would you accomplish in such a short time? Training days which I've attended previously last all day and the time flies by - you can't beat 'hands on' rather than watching - hence could you get 25/30 people to practice putting out a car fire or assisting the Rescue Team extracting an 'injured' driver from a car or handling an emergency situation in an hour or so? I'm not sure I'd want to do it in front of a group of track day drivers with no competitive experience either!
Maybe we could organise lifts or a mini-bus to a future training day with enough advance warning?

could we use the ruff ground by the contaners for the fire training on a day of an event so the driver can see what it is like in a real life crisis

my thoughts exactly, as some people for their own reasons only marshal at Aintree.

Sorry guys. I've investigated fire training at Aintree before, but Aintree won't agree to us setting anything on fire at the venue.
Heath & Safety is the excuse, though that's what I thought we would be practicing. Steve Johnson (CSMA/Acrington/Go Motorsport) was willing to run the session for us too. Having said that, it doesn't seem to stop them having a big bonfire of old fence cladding just before the Grand National. Ho humm
And as for delaying a track day for an hour, absolutely not! We get enough flack already if we don't start before 09.30, so delaying a Track Day is definitely not on. People are paying for track time so are very critical if anything happens to reduce this. (If you look back to the event when a car went off heavily and we also had to brush up the glass from the car with a broken back window, you'll find that we got a lot of stick on the forum and elsewhere.)
Sorry

I didn't want to set fire to anything anyway, I was thinking more on the lines of how the extracate the driver/passenger from a crash vehicle, how the marshals could and can help the rescue/ambulance teams. Sorry if people got the wrong end of the stick. Could we use an hour on a sprint or forgo lunch, have a working lunch instead???

Sorry if people got the wrong end of the stick. John. It may not be as easy as it seems on the face of it, I have not made any enquiries yet to the M S A , but we may have to use the services of an Approved M S A Trainer ??. I will speak with our Chief Marshal Bill Grey on this subject and see what we could possibly do in the near future. Pete Proudley. L M C Marshals Coordinator.

why do simple things get so confusing, just thought it might be a good idea to show marshals how to help extracate a injured driver/passenger, should the worst happen.
