A series of rather severe speed humps have been installed along Melling Road to the South West of the entrance to Aintree circuit, ie from Seeds Lane to the motorsport entrance. And a 30mph speed limit imposed too, not that you'd want to drive over them at 30+.
We now recommend approaching the venue only via B5194 Aintree Lane and Blue Anchor Bridge if you have a vehicle with low ground clearance.

Thats the best way into Aintree, no tight right turn to make. There are a few humps on the main road as well, but not as bad as the ones on Melling Road!!

May I suggest the best way is from M57/M58, take A59 towards Liverpool, go past Asda on left, under the bridge. At traffic lights turn left ( Aintree Lane ). Stay on main road over speed bumps. Turn right into Melling Road, over bridge entrance on left.

Never really felt them in the L200 - I thought they were to check ride heights?

Apparently, the humps have been paid for by Aintree Racecourse as they are fed up with paying for the fences to be repaired either side of the road after being demolished by errant cars. 9 times last year alone. And judging by what we have been charged in the past for fencing repairs, they ain't cheap!
And, anyone who checks the LMC website will see that we have always directed people to Aintree via the A59 & Aintree Lane!
