It's often said that you should buy the most expensive helmet that you can afford as the amount of protection it provides increases with price - and you can't easily repair a damaged head! PlaysKool certainly have some fantastically priced helmets that fully comply with the latest standards. I don't know what their exchange policy is if the size isn't right, so do ask. Different manufacturers helmets do have subtly different fitting sizes, so you need to be sure it fits properly & is comfortable in plenty of time before your first event. If it's not right, you need to be able to swap it for another size. Demon Tweeks often have "racewear" on special offer to personal visitors to their shop at Wrexham. They sometimes list them on their website too, but not always. See www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/motorsport/race-suits as a starting point. Elsewhere, try Googling "racewear shops uk" and there's loads to choose from. But you may still find PlaysKool the best! Race suits are "lifed", (ie they have an expiry date), so if you buy second hand or by mail order from somewhere other than a main supplier, be sure you are not being sold something that has only a short life left. If you haven't yet applied for your MSA comp licence (which you don't need for track days - but you do for sprints/hillclimbs) you presumably haven't looked at the regulations governing competitive motorsport yet. Have a look here www.msauk.org/site/cms/contentCategoryView.asp?category=609 where you can access all the requirements for your car, your clothing, and yourself. We will all sit back now & wait for your questions as you try to work out what it all means. Don't worry if you are confused, we all have been (and often still are) about the regs. But that's what the forum is for - to ask others for their advice. Most speed event questions are logged under Speed Championship forum - so ask away! John H

I've had the odd bit from GPR Direct, usually because they have stock for next day delivery/dispatch www.gprdirect.com/It looks like their website is having an off day, I can't filter the products without hitting a Page-Not-Found error, it doesn't inspire me to part with my money. However I may pop down to these guys and have a browse.
