Likewise, just brewed a cuppa after a cracking day at Sewage Works. The better half says the pullover smells of petrol and exhaust gases from the start line and not the other sweet smell you have had to put up with all day. Fantastic cars and competitors, most of whom where in period dress. One lady navigator stands out above all the others; mini skirt, white knee length boots, blue tights and huge hoop earrings to complete the ensemble. Takes you back fellas!! However, tweed jackets, cord trousers and flat caps seemed to be the order of the day for most crews. The start line view showed a high standard of preparation for nearly all the cars and the interiors of some were something to behold; polished wood and chrome, Haldas and clocks, and multiple gauges and dials, all added to a purposeful historic look. Pity it only happens once a year! P.S. Haven't been there for ages but isn't Preston a depressing place!

What a great day! And what fantastic cars. New (senior!) member Pete who was with me at my location, couldn't believe that such historic cars were being rallied at 10/10ths! The event exceeded all his expectaions by a considerable margin ;D And, yes, the outskirts of Preston just seems to be a never ending series of out of town superstores and warehouse units, and unco-ordinated traffic lights. Bah! Not going back there in a hurry! Roll on the next classic event!

erm, i have a confession, on behalf of Liverpool University Canoe Club! It turns out most of the competitors where held up (ALOT) by a random lost transit minibus followed by a random lost sprinter van, who decided (having already held up multiple cars) that they where lost on a single carriage way round, and needed to turn around, causing the camera van to move, AND then hold up the rest of the pack significantly more! Small world, however the club are slightly embarrassed and apologetic, but very happy that they saw all the cars should probably post this else where, but here is best ! Good pic of the DS, clearly need more pics having only seen the cars in a predominantly stationary stance. Also i'd love to see the video of the DS doing a near perfect 270 degree hand brake turn, very impressive (for a car that has a front operated handbrake as standard )

Just checked the notes I made and we had 70 cars through the stage ranging from the various Minis through Volvo 122S models and Porsche 911s. I spotted a couple of changes of car whilst the following far from technical observations were made: 1) No 53 - George Mullins & Des Wood in a 911 were baulked on there first loop of the Western end of the stage but were flyin' on their second run through. 2) No 38 - Aidan & Mike Rushby in a Sunbeam Alpine were "giving it stick". 3) No 31 - Mark Smith's Volvo had a very strong smell of petrol. 4) No 36 - Trevor Wragg & Stephen Deane in the 911 were "very fast". and finally 5) No 30 - Philip Armstrong driving the Volvo PV544 was an absolute nutter slinging the car sideways. All in all a thoroughly entertaining day out.

All of the pictures that I took from yesterday can be viewed at caterman.fotopic.net/I haven't edited any of them so there are a few that aren't worth looking at but I'm still experimenting with this camera.

I haven't edited any of them so there are a few that aren't worth looking at but I'm still experimenting with this camera. I noticed that on the panning shots the car tends to be moving out of the picture on the right; I think this may be because of the slight delay that you get with some digital compact cameras. This means when you press the shutter the image you capture is what the lens sees shortly afterwards. Never-the-less a great selection of action photos! What camera is it?

Camera is a Nikon D70 with a SanDisc Extreme III CF card, so problem is more likely to be with the user rather than the equipment ;D

When I can eventually find 1st Gear then maybe I will succeed in this post being uploaded to the forum. I have been trying all week without success, hopefully with the help of Speedsport I will manage it this time. As a New Member of the LMC, and having attended my first event with the club at Clifton on Sunday, I would like to say just how much I thoroughly enjoyed my day, Grrrrrrrrr8. Also my thanks again to Speedsport for his Diplomatic choosing of referring to me as New ( Senior Member ) Pete, instead of the ( Retired Old Guy )

Great set of photos Phil... very impressed. By 'ek the car in 0224 must have been shifting though For a first try with a new camera you have done really well, there aren't many that are "off frame". Move over David Bailey (the photographer that is, not the FF1600 driver!) ;D
