I went to a reunion of work & college mates over the week-end and we got around to discussing the 'good old 60's' - I started college in 1964 studying engineering & the, then, new subject of electronics! A new Mini cost between £450 for the van & £500 for the saloon and a Hillman Imp Super - with opening back window - was £520! we all laughed & reminisced about how for 10 bob (50p in today's money) you could go down the off licence and come back with 4 cans of Harp, a bottle of Spanish wine, a bottle of whisky, 12 packets of crisps (ready salted only), 20 Embassy, a couple of bars of Dairy Milk and still have change for fish & chips later in the night! Oh for the good old days - CCTV has ruined it all & put up the cost of living!
