What an absolute cracking turn-out last night! There were at least 12 club members present which is a great improvement on this time last year when we got just 3! Roy Holder, mine host at the Unicorn, ran an interesting Ferrrai Quiz - apparently his good lady wife bought him a book on the marque. First prize was a Ford T-shirt which Phil Gough won on a tie-break. There were far ranging topics discussed from 1954 sprints at Aintree to Auto-solo stopping off at Lady Drivers on the way! It was also good to meet Danny a new member, he signed up last night, who has a Lotus Elise and may well be having a bash at track-days! February's meeting should be a cracker so do not miss it!

Yes - it was a good night! I had the dvd player in reserve with the 2006 BTCC Review ready to show but we didn't need it! Answers to the Trivia are: Q1 & 2 - (I mis-typed Year for date by the way!!!) 1898 (should have been :18/02/1898 & 20/02/1898. Q3 Alfa romeo Q4 1939 Q5 Auto Avio Construzione Q6 125 Tie breaker - Independent Rear Suspension
No John - Enzo's first car wasn't a Micra! Unfortunately the A3 prototype isn't too well and won't be able to enter the forthcoming Auto Solo (Sue's seen the photos and has hidden the keys to her Cinquecento Sporting!). Can anyone lend me a Micra??
Happy New Year everyone!

Great evening was had by all! Topics ranged from a 1959 sprint at Aintree, through Michelle Mouton in the Audi Quattro ;D to the origins of the CTG Clubmans car. There was also a long discussion on Diesel Engines in Motor Sport. The club are still looking for volunteers, steady now, to help man, or should that be 'person', the Chowley Oak Special Stage on the Tour of Cheshire historic rally. The date is 10th March, which is a Saturday, and the cars roll through after lunch so it's not an early start!

The next Club Social Meeting is Monday 12th March (ie TOMORROW!) from 8pm at the Unicorn, Cronton. Now, I wonder what exciting topics will be discussed this time? Nuclear fusion (unlikely), the meaning of life the universe & everything (the answer is 42 in case you didn't know)? Or how about the best way of fitting a static motion lever on the pressure inverter valve of a Ford 1600 crossflow engine (I'm told most people are fooled 'cos it's got a left hand thread, others are just gullible!!!), ;D Whatever delights are raised, you can be sure that you will know as much or as little as the next man, but there will always be some clever clogs who professes to know more than everyone else (and clearly doesn't 'cos he says he's an expert at fitting the lever to one of those valves mentioned above). Come along & sample the total delight of discussing all sorts of random topics in most convivial surroundings at the Unicorn. See you there?

A good nite was enjoyed by all who turned up, we recruited one new member and also had a regular at the pub ask for membership forms! Subject matter ranged from Chowley Oak (not unsurprisingly!) through the Southport Historic Show, via CTG Clubman cars to the history of Aintree sprints. I am planning to run a QUIZ at the next Club Night in April so be prepared, nothing too difficult I promise!
