Roadgoing Suspension Question for Class 1c
I have posted the same question on the BHC/BSC forums and not received a definative answer, one comment was as follows hense the question being posted here:
'At the moment it really does not say that in the blue book, it might in 2012 but not in the 2011 one. Some championships have added that to there regs and others hav'nt , so at the moment its all still a grrey area, some scruts say top mounts are ok, others say they are not. Talk to the scrut for the championship you want to do'.
So the question: A friend of mine is about to start his 1st season in Roadgoing Production, installed on his car are adjustable platform struts that are mounted in the original positions as it left the factory...........however the Top Mount of the strutt is adjustable for Camber, the top mount is located to the original positions and has a spherical bearing which i believe is now acceptable to MSA. Clarification of the rule in Motorsports now summer 2010 states:
Suspension
11.7.1Suspension configuration must remain standard
The suspension type and mountings must remain the same as fitted by the Manufacturer. The shock absorbers may be of any make and may be uprated from standard. Adjustable spring platform struts are permitted. The mounting method must remain as specified by the manufacturer. Springs are free but must retain there original location. Bushes may be changed for similar polymer materials but rose-joints or similar metal joints are prohibited.
Reason: Clarification
Bascically will my friend be turned away by the scruiteneers and have to change his top mounts ? (even though he doesn't adjust), This has been asked many times and i am sure there are plenty of people unsure.
