For anyone that is interested: Hagley & District Light Car Club are hosting the Midland Marshals' Training Day at Loton Park on Sunday 4th March and have extended an invite to us.
This day is open to all, including competitors and officials as well as marshals. Personally I think there would be a benefit to anyone who goes 'track side' in attending a day such as this. Do any of us, as competitors, know what training a marshal has done, yet we trust them to deal with any situation that might arise in a professional manner when they are not professionals but volunteers. Can we help in an incident?
For this coming season MSA stewards have been told to pay particular attention to marshal cover at events and if they think that there is insufficient coverage they will suspend the event until there is and if the minimum requirement is still not met they can cancel the event. There is a very real chance that competitors may be asked to marshal at events in order to prevent the event being canceled. This has already had an effect at some events, none of ours I hasten to add...yet!
So what do you think? Is it worth giving up a Sunday for? I think so thats why I'm going. Remember - not enough marshals on the day....we don't play!!
Please give it some thought and if you are interested PM me or post a reply.

Sounds like a good idea! Do we need to book or just turn up on the day? What time does it start ?
Cheers......

I'm going. Although there will be another training day at Harewood, I think the Loton one is a better bet, as many of the marshals there will be our regulars. It's a good opportunity to meet them without the pressure of an event. The MSA is introducing registration for Sprint/hillclimb marshalls soon, so here's a great opportunity to see what's in store before it becomes compulsory. Oh, and the food's a great attraction too! Who else is coming? Let Caterman know to make sure there's enough food for everyone!
