Make a note in your diary for the spectacular North West Motor Show, to be held in Southport on June 23rd & 24th 2007. The North West Motor Show, now in its fifth year is firmly established as one of the most popular shows of its kind in the region, attracting motoring enthusiasts, experts, collectors, buyers and exhibitors from all over the UK and of course visitors looking for a great day out. Once again based in the beautiful setting of Victoria Park, Southport, this will be the largest motoring related event to date in Southport. Last year there were over 800 cars on display, and it is hoped that the 1000 barrier will be broken this year. LMC is once again taking along it's mini-marquee and a display of the past & current activities. To back this up, we need a display of cars to show the public what we are all about. We shall also be running a closed circuit display arena, where selected vehicles will be shown in action. Last year we put on a great display of members road & competition cars, everything from Pat Loftus & Peter Howgate in their F3 cars through Westfields & various saloon cars to Dave Hunts immaculate Mini Cooper which was a great favourite with the crowd. Have you got an interesting car that you could display on either or both days? Please let us know, either by posting a message here, or by contacting John Harden ( chairman@liverpoolmotorclub.com) or Geoff Ashworth ( president@liverpoolmotorclub.com). We're waiting to hear from you!

I cant be complimentary ... I can't quite hear it from here! Mind you, a loud stereo doesn't exactly go with the Ferrari image does it?

Ok, less frivolity (he says - : With the show now only just over 2 weeks away, it's all coming together nicely. We now have over 20 cars offered so will have a great display in a highly prominent position within the live action arena. If anyone else wants to bring a car "of motoring or motorsport interest" please put a note on here & then email Geoff Ashworth president@liverpoolmotorclub.com ASAP. Participants will get free entry to the show, and if you help marshal the live action arena for a couple of hours on either or both days, a contribution to your travelling expenses will be paid. So what are you waiting for? The award (if we had one) for the furtherest travelled participant looks likely to go to Peter Howgate - assuming he gets to the Show. He's competing in his F3 Ralt on Saturday at Lyddon, driving to Southport immediately after the event, demonstrating the car on Sunday at the Show before driving home to Sheffield afterwards. You'd think he would have learned last year when he did exactly the same thing! Over 600 miles? Now can anyone beat that?

Well, we've completed the first day of the Show...... great fun! ;D OK, so the organisers seem to have communication problems (ie we're not too sure exactly which displays are supposed to be on the live arena & when) but in true LMC tradition, we sort of did our own thing, and the public seemed mightily impressed. We'd better not publish Simon's terminal speed in the park, (any quicker & it really would have been terminal eh Simon? ) but the Evo looked awsome. As did Tim Cooper's Audi S2. What a sound & what a car! Derek Martlew neat red FF1600 seemed to be fooling the public... "is that a Formula One car mister?" was heard more than once. Hmmmm! As for Dave Hunt's antics in the Mini Cooper, he certainly kept the crowd entertained (especially when on 2 wheels). Lets just hope that that sound of clicking CV joints wasn't as bad as first thought. He's supposed to be out again next weekend for the Blackburn M65 AutoSolo! Lets hope that Sunday's weather is half as good. Rain is forecast, but then it was today too & we had a great sunny day.

After a dull and at times damp start to the day Sunday turned out to be a great day with sunshine and a good crowd. Liverpool Motor Club won the trophy for the Best Club Stand and the 'Live Axtion Arena' was pretty good - especially the Stunt Bike Show. Pity that Pete Howgate had the oil leak as this lost us a fair bit of time and made the track VERY slippery! In the end we had to cancel some of the Live Action because of the time lost. All in all another worthwhile exercise.
