Busy, Busy, Busy! We have been asked to put on a display at the Jaguar/Land Rover plant family open day on Sunday 2nd September at Speke. That's the very next weekend after the outing to the Gold Cup at Oulton Park. Details are still somewhat fluid at the moment but we have been offered the opportunity of publicising our Club by EITHER: Putting our display boards and a few cars inside the bodyshop, OR, we could put on a display outdoors & man a live action display of some sort. The organisers are open to suggestions, so if you have any great ideas and would be willing to help put them in place, please let your Chairman, John Harden know ASAP. chairman@liverpoolmotorclub.comThe only restriction is that any cars put on display inside the plant building must be from the wider Ford Group range, or at least be powered by a Ford engine. ie. Ford, Jaguar, Land Rover, Volvo, Mazda, or the likes of a FF1600, FF2000, Lotus Elan, etc. This requirement is not quite as strict if we put on an outdoor display, but Ford group products would still be preferred. Can you help, either by bringing along a car, or by helping put our display together?

I have adjusted my calendar accordingly and I will be able to display my Lotus Elan. If there is a live action display the Elan would be available for that as well. Just one question: when do we set-up the stand etc? Saturday or Sunday.

Thanks for the offer Steve. As to when we're setting up, I've no idea yet! It all depends whether we put on a display for Jaguar (indoors) or Land Rover (outdoors), or even both! We also need some more cars to make this worthwhile of course.
I need to make a site visit to see what's available as I dont even know at this stage exactly where the outdoor display will be sited.
Watch this space.

Should you need it I could bring the red Capri which is competed at Aintree down to display. The only problem I may have is someone ran into the back of it in the rain yesterday but I'm pretty certain it should be reasonably fit by September. Simon

Thanks for the offer Simon. I'm treading a little bit cautiously at the moment as there seems to be a little friction between different areas within the plant. I am scaling down our intended display to now include just 3 or 4 cars together with our Club Display boards inside the Body Shop, then any other volunteers can help Land Rover marshal ther action display outside.
As soon as I get more info, I'll let you all know.
In the meantime, does anyone have, or know someone else who has, a sporting Jaguar that we could include as part of our display?

Just in case anyone is thinking of going to Halewood on Sunday, please don't turn up thinking you will be able to blag your way in! The place is like Fort Knox and unless you have the appropriate ticket, you'll not be able to gain access to the plant.
If you have a ticket, or know someone at the plant that can get one for you, we may see you there but, regrettably, we dont have any that we can give out. We have had to slim down our display drastically and supply names of those members who will be helping on the day, just to get our stand in. So I regret that we cant get you in .... sorry folks.

What a day! Thousands of punters passing the stand; a lot of interest; lots of people who didn't realise that we still did motor sport at Aintree; and hundreds of kids sitting in my Elan! It is going to take me hours to get rid of all those greasy tiny hand prints!!!
