Unfortunately it's looking like i won't be able to attend this year, being mid week and all its a bit of a trek, and currently its looking like i might be in Montana, so that will be nice!
Can you clarify which entry is Zebidee?

As far as I know it's No1. It won the final last year, hence the number this year. It won by over a lap from the second place car and also won the Best Engineered Car award. No surprise there! 115 miles in 4 hrs on two pairs of 12v car batteries. That's an average of nearly 30mph, including pit stops - now that's some drive! www.greenpower.co.uk/racing/results_detail.php?type=2008_2008NATIONALFINAL_501367 'Brian' finished 12th, 5 laps behind which is still good for a 3 year old far less developed car. Shame you can't be with us this year Vanny. It has all the makings of a most interesting day.

A lot better than last year. There were double the number of runners in the 4 hour race plus the race was a far from a fore-gone conclusion with the two pre-race favourites hitting trouble. Sandbach won with their Number Two machine Brian, now sporting a sassy JPS black & gold livery, despite having a long additional stop to replace a punctured tyre. Meanwhile their Number One machine, the Gulf liveried Zeberdee, was really in the wars as they had no less than 4 punctures en route to third place. The Recovery truck spent a lot of time on track as there were many more problems especially with the newer cars. All in all a great success and we are already signed up for 2010 as Greenpower just love Aintree!

Greenpower is back at Aintree on Thursday 16th September 2010 with even more teams entered. The format looks likely to be similar or last year's event, so for details have a look at earlier posts. As soon as we have more information, it will be posted here, but in the meantime, if you are interested in marshaling this terrific event, please post a message here, or contact me by PM or via www.liverpoolmotorclub.com/about/contact-us/There's nothing strenuous, dangerous or any other "ous" about the duty of marshals at this one, and in fact the day is particularly ideal for our less active (or more senior) helpers as you can sit down in the comfort of your arm chair (if you bring one!) and watch the cars go by. Can you help? We will need you on site by 08.40, and anticipate the event finishing by 17.00. I am assured that there will be a proper lunch break too. We already have half a dozen volunteers but could do with more. No motorsport experience necessary and there is no need for orange fireproofs! If you can help, or know someone who may be interested in coming along to assist with this charity event, please let me know. The more people we get, the less boring it will be for all of us! As mentioned above, this is event particularly ideal for some of our retired members and their friends. Marshals at most posts will be able to sit in their cars whilst undertaking their duties; particularly advantageous if the weather is typical of the last few weeks! John Harden
