Quote "A portrait of the eccentric, charismatic British motor racing legend Graham Hill, a man who lived and died during a time when sex was safe and racing was dangerous." Twas on BBC4 last night. If you missed it you have six days left to catch it on I Player. Well worth the 1 hour in front of the PC. Not finished watching it yet but look out for Monaco at approx 11 mins into the prog for footage of the harbour and the complete lack of Armco protection. The only thing between car/driver and water was the mooring bollards and lamp posts. Incredible.

Can u make that stupd iplayer work? It seems to take about 3 days to download a 45 min programme? It's better to watch it as a streaming video!

Be careful the bbc iplayer works on the peer to peer system thats why it takes so long to download as you are not downloading direct from a BBC server but from many different personal computers throughout the country i am not sure but maybe the world, anything can happen plus if you do not switch it off in the preferences everytime your PC is on, you are being used as a download point if you have a programme stored in your local iplayer folder that someone is after. Your PC will also constantly be checked every few seconds to see if you have a program that someone wants and if it is on your PC it will be download from your PC slowing everything down plus if you are on a limited monthly useage it will count. Another reason that it is very slow, you might have a high download speed but your upload speed is at lot lower, can be as low as a tenth of the download speed so you will only download at the upload speed of the PC you are comneected to usually 256k to 784k odd cases 1m

Thanks for the techno stuff Ron. I never download, just stream what I want to catch up on. Do I take then that streaming doesn't compromise the PC?

Ooh - er. I dont like this! Thanks Ron, I've disabled the stuff you recommend. Funny how they dont tell you in simple terms how it works. It's streaming programmes only for me in the future. Excellent prog about Graham Hill by the way. Made with full co-operation & approval of his family. It was referred to as a programme from the "Driven Series". Have there been/are there going to be any others, do you know?
