Hello, Is there someone to remember a race car: Mike kirkland's ELVA MK1-climax(falcon body, BRG paint, number 78 on some pictures), club races Aintree and Oulton Park between 1978/1982, hillclimbs before... I'm the french owner of this car now, and I'm searching all information about this car. Sold to Mike by a sport car garage at Great Harwood (balckburn) about 1978... Lot of work to find Mike! I f someone could help me for the previous time! Great thanks. François.

Francois, I have checked all the events at Oulton Park and Aintree that I went to in this period. Plus I have checked all Hillclimbs in the 1978 to 1982 period. Unfortunately there is NO entry for a Mike Kirkland in an Elva of any description. There were also no entries for a Mk 1 Elva driven by anyone else! Sorry to be of so little help but it would certainly assist us if you could advise on what class he ran in and possibly post the period photos you have of the car racing or in the paddock.
All the best,
Steve

I had a look at the photo. I suspect it would have been raced and hillclimbed as an Historic or Classic. It doesn't ring any bells from that era.

I'm guessing as usual, but Autotune who make the Gemini kit car are based in Great Harwood & one of their brochures refers to the owner running an Elva. See: www.autotuneuk.com/downloads/geminiBrochure.pdfand the rest of their site for some details. Regards, Dennis

Great thanks, Dennis. A friend of mine, John Fielden, sent a mail to Anthony Fielden: it should be this car, it's true. And perhaps before it was raced by C.WINDER in the mid sixties.Who remembers him? "merci encore"! François.

It's Anthony Taylor, Autotune, of course!

Perhaps not C.WINDER car. Anthony Taylor bought it, in poor condition, in a "great old house in Cheltenham area", in the mid 70's.He doesn't remember more. Does it ring some bells for "ELVAISTS"? Thanks. François.

Some new informations: Roger Dunbar (ELVA register)seems to think my car could be the ex Peter Coleman car(racer of those times, now known for up-dated E-type). Some ideas to contact him? Great thanks. François
