Geoff Peters does not have a PC so has asked me to pass on his thanks to everyone who helped after his "slight off" at the Aintree Trackday yesterday. He would particularly like to thank the Doctor, medics & rescue crew who took such great care of him, extracted him from his car, and transported him to hospital, and also to everyone who helped recover his car & load it back into his trailer. Geoff appears to have sustained some fairly complicated fractures to his left shoulder and will probably require surgery to get things back in order. Being Geoff, he discharged himself from hospital at Aintree on Saturday but his partner Liz has persuaded him to book himself back in for further attention at his local hospital in Harrogate tomorrow (Monday). As for the car, it looks as though it may have turned a wheel for the last time as the spaceframe is twisted and, being self-built, Geoff cannot simply transfer the bits into another one. However he promises to be back on track as soon as he is fit, even if that means using his road car! As for the cause of the accident, it appears to be down to a faulty brake caliper that Geoff had just bought & fitted, which had leaked fluid onto the disk. Therefore, 100% brakes on the other 3 wheels, 0% brakes on the front offside. To put it mildly, he is rather annoyed, so watch out supplier! In his words, he's "taking a couple of weeks enforced holiday, see you all soon"!

Sent a text to Geoff, late on Sunday night , after reading the above, to wish him well as I was out on the Edinburgh Trial on the trackday. He rang tonight to thank me and so I was able to read to him Speedsport's post, as his PC is knackered (his words not mine). It made him smile and I think he was quite chuffed. He then went on to give me a blow by blow account of the whole thing including his time in A & E, and once again offered his thanks to everyone who helped to extricate him from the car and special thanks to Doctor Dave who he says is brilliant Also everyone who put the wreck into the trailer. He sounds his usual self, very chirpy, and although absolutely gutted by the loss of his car will be out again just as soon as he can be in either his road going Fiesta or his other car (not too sure what that is but others who read this may know). He went to Harrogate Hospital today and the medics there have decided that the break doesn't need an operation to pin it, nor strapping up, maybe the arm in a sling some of the time, and he just has to let it heal naturally with physio in a couple of weeks. Still in pain when he coughs, laughs or moves his arm more than a couple of inches from the vertical. The thing that is really annoying him is the fact that he has been signed off work for six weeks. If you know Geoff sitting around is not his style. Even on Sunday he was pottering around in his garage and in the trailer taking pics of the damage. I think it will be a long six weeks. He wants to get back to work and do light duties behind a desk after one weeks holiday! I told him to heed the medics advice and not to do too much so that it heals properly. I think Liz will have a hard job to get him to take it easy. Although he will eventually scrap the car he wonders if any one is interested in the remains either for the bits or to use as a template to build another. Anyway Geoff, I am sure I speak for everyone at LMC, be good, get fit soon and we all look forward to seeing you back on Start Line duties next year.

Can you thank Geoff for giving me a practical demonstration on the wonders of straw bails, i seriously thought they would be fairly in effective, but having seen the wreck and the 9 million (milli)meter long skid marks, and the effort it took to extract the car, then to see Geoff walking around but a few hours later, i've got a lot more respect for the straw bales!
And thanks for keping us upto date, very glad to here that Geoff is okay, shame the car isnt!
