Anglesey was great; sunny and warm however the track was SLIPPERY! Leastways that's my excuse for the spin! Dennis Doyle and I were up against it in Sports Libre as Rob Stevens had brought his Hayabusa powered Force SR4. On Saturday we trailed home in 2nd and 3rd whilst Rob missed the cut for the run-off by a couple of hundredths! Sunday and Rob had problems! A misfire in practice turned out to be a major problem as when the engine was checked over one cylinder was found to have no compression what so ever! Dennis took the class win in his Mallock whilst I picked up the Best Novice Award in my trusty Elan!
More details on the week-end will appear in a forthcoming LMC publication! ;D

I felt a bit guilty (well almost) as Rob had lent me his hammer, hacksaw & file for the various aero mods described in the rolling restoration thread.
BTW thanks to Terry Holmes for use of his drill & Hamish for use of his pop rivet gun & rivets.

On Sunday when my Elan coughed and spluttered to a halt it was Pete Howgate & Brian Woffenden who fixed it and they were put out on Saturday when the oil pump belt split! They had decided to stay on for Sunday in case they could lend a hand. As well as my Elan they helped out with Sue Griffiths when Stuart Webster bent her Chevron, Mike Musson when he had problems and Steve Broughton who had overheating problems in the OMS. Guys like this are a priceless asset to the championship as they make EVERYONE feel part of it!

Absolutely.
The 3 guys who lent me their bits all had much more serious problems of their own:
Rob Stevens reckoned he probably had a bent valve.
Terry Holmes’ car was smoking heavier than me, reckoned maybe it was either a melting piston or breaking rings, but didn’t let that stop him taking part in the top 12.
Hamish Lindsay ‘popped’ back to Birmingham to do an engine swop on Saturday night to come back for a class win on Sunday.
All were competing in the SBD championship.

The latest round at Lydden yesterday was run in VERY HOT conditions (33 degrees in the shade in the Paddock!). The Holmes/Porrett Reynard is still smoking! No Mike Musson who will be sidelined for some time before the Twin engined Force is back together. Pete Howgate & Brian Woffenden also failed to make the journey as the replacement of the Oil Pump is such a big task on the K Series Rover. Also missing were Sue Griffiths & Stuart Webster as Sue's Chevron will be out of action for some time whilst teh damaged front end is repaired. Roy Dawson had a busy week getting his Orange Gould back together. He first of all installed a new clutch then travelled to Gould's in Newbury where the gearbox was rebuilt. The car was still having problems with the flat-shift and Roy had to do manual gear changes. Never-the-less he cruised to victory despite lack of sleep and a very bad cold!

The Pembrey Double Header week-end saw Roy Dawson taking two wins and extending his championship lead. Fellow Scot Stewart Robb bagged a brace of thirds and despite disappointment with the results moved into second place in the championship.
Championship sponsor Steve Broughton followed the consistant trend and placed second in each run-off which moved him up to fourth. The find of the season Dan Pickett had a torrid week-end scoring just seven points after a major suspension re-jig severely affected the handling.

The latest round of the Championship took place yesterday at Llandow in South Wales. Roy Dawson won again but it wasn't without its dramas. Battles ensued all through the classes and the Westfields were 'at it again'! See Motorsport News for a report on Wednesday.

In Rd 11 of the championship at Colerne Roy Dawson won setting a new Outright record whilst the 1100 and 1600 Racing Car records were also broken.
On Saturday Rd 12 takes place at Aintree so be sure to support Liverpool MC and pop along for a butcher's.

Rd 11 at Aintree and as you may have already gathered from elsewhere it was WET!Roy Dawson won the run-off with ease but was disappointed that he couldn't have a crack at the outright record! Steve Broughton took a fine second and Steve Miles a season's best third place. In the classes there were some interesting battles with the Formula Fords proving one of the best! Another excellent event at Aintree home of Liverpool Motor Club. All those involved in the organisation and running of the event should be proud of their efforts!
