I remember a year or three ago you were open to suggestions on venues to include & wonder if that’s still the case?
If so, I’d like to propose Barbon & Scammonden, partly for a bit of variation & partly because I suspect it might be easier to get entries there than at some other places.
I know there a lot of practical constraints, but I figured there was no harm in asking.
P.S. My club membership application is in the post – it’s only 2 years overdue but my excuse is a good one!

Hi Dennis Unfortunately both the of the Barbon dates clash with other rounds already on the Calendar and Scammonden is not a very popular venue, as one is never sure as to whether or not they will be running. I already have 20 rounds on the calendar for 2010 stretching from Yorkshire to the Midlands. I am almost ready to take the regs to the printers and I will publish the 2010 rounds on the website as soon as possible. I am in the process of updating the references to the 2010 Blue Book.

Thanks Ron.
Scammonden not popular??? I know a flock or two who disagree.
Mind you, I’m sure the current 20 rounds will over-stretch most of us.

Scammonden not popular??? I know a flock or two who disagree. Dennis, in recent times the events I have been to at Scammonden have been poorly supported. The best in terms of turnout was a Westfield SCC event which being a round of their championship attracted 30 plus entries. I would suggest that the venue really would benefit from .... (a) resurfacing the track (b) drainage and roadways in the paddock areas (c) removal of the trees with possibly planting some more where they wouldn't block spectator's views. (d) the surfacing of the entire holding paddock at the foot of the dam - this would stop mud and gravel being dragged onto the hill proper. Obviously none of this will happen as it will take a lot of money and would have very little return for the investment. Shame as it really is a good challenging hill!
