After a great deal of hard work in putting together a new class structure that is acceptable to the majority of motor clubs, we have now received the support of the MSA and are able to finalise the new Classes. We recommend that you look at the new classes and the explanatory notes on our Speed Championship website www.speedchampionship.com, particularly if you have a car that you intend using in the road-going classes in 2010.
Whilst we have tried to get all clubs in the Northwest, Northeast and Midlands to use the classes as listed, there are still one or two clubs who have decided not to adopt them just yet, whilst others may add extra classes or amalgamate some of those shown in order to accommodate local practice. The structure is being adopted voluntarily so, whilst we have requested that all clubs/championships keep to the same class numbering system, we cannot compel them to do so. If you find a club or championship that is not using the new structure, why not suggest (strongly) to the organisers that it would be a good idea for them to adopt it?
We welcome feedback on your experiences during the year so that we can tell how successful the classes have been, and can consider any minor tweaks that may be required for 2011.
We must thank all those competitors and organisers who have given us their input; we are very pleased to have reached this point so quickly.
The following clubs/championships have confirmed that they will be using the new class structure in 2010:
Chester Motor Club, Lancashire & Cheshire Car Club, Lancashire Automobile Club, Liverpool Motor Club, Longton & District Motor Club, Luffield MG Car Club Speed Championship, MG Northern Speed Championship, , The Chester & Liverpool Motor Clubs’ Speed Championship, Auto66, Yorkshire Sprint & Hillclimb Championship, Westmorland Motor Club, ANWCC Sprint & Hillclimb Championships, Midland Speed Championship, Shenstone & District Car Club, Nottingham Sports Car Club, BARC Yorkshire (Harewood), Hillclimb & Sprint Association. The classes are currently under consideration by Hagley & District Motor Club.
