Nick Algar set a new course record on Saturday the 26th June of 35.82 secs with a finish line trap speed of 172 mph in his Gould GR55 3500cc. Brilliant!

He had already set a new class record on his first run when his finishing speed was 176mph!
There were also class records for Phil Short (Honda S2000), Gordon Tasker & Colin Danks in the two Bert Hadley Austin 7 classes, David Morrison in the MGCC class, Tom Walker in the Austin Healey Club class and finally Darrell Woods in the 500 OAC class.
With 2 Practice and 5 timed runs available I think all the competitors were pleased with our efforts - especially those of the hard working and somewhat over-heated marshals.

Yes- very impressive runs - why is it that the quick drivers make it look so easy & smooth? I watched a couple of Nick's runs from the finish line and it was an impressive sight to see him coming down railway Straight at that speed, a few sparks from the under-tray and a 'whiff' of dust raised by the aerodynamics of the car!
Later in the day I had the pleasure of watching him come down Valentines and enter Beechers - no drama, rapid down changes and a smooth sweep around the bend and then accelerate out - a few sparks as the car settled under power and a few dust devils raised! Nice one Nick!
Spin of the day from my afternoon vantage point at Beechers goes to BJ - entry seemed good if not a tad fast, then I think the weight of the tow-bar dragged the car around - fair play to BJ - after a 360 keeping it on the black stuff and away from the grass he was on his way with no red flags! ( and probably thought no one had seen!?).
Altogether an thoroughly enjoyable (if not hot & sweaty) day!

With a track temperature of over 50 degrees C yesterday, and with little breeze to lessen the effect of the unrelenting sun, I am so grateful for the help that everyone gave to ensure the safe running of the day. Without doubt it was a brilliant event during which over 700 starts were made and, of course, the new outright sprint record was set by Nick Algar in his Gould/Nicholson McLaren.
There were many expressions of thanks from competitors who so appreciated everyone who stood out all day in the sweltering conditions just so “the drivers could play”.
It was especially pleasing to see so many of you stay to help pack up at the end of the day too; on behalf of the drivers and all the organising team at Liverpool Motor Club, many thanks to everyone who helped with the Sprint yesterday.
Thanks so much
John Harden, Chairman, LMC
(PS, and yes, I stood out in it all day too, as my feet will readily testify!)

That Gould car was absolutely fantastic, from Country there was a definite buzz around the spectators every time it came past. And huge anticipation of the time as it crossed the finish.
It was almost the perfect day for marshaling, just a little less temperature and it would have been ideal. And what a quick get away at the end of the day, i made it back to Laura's an hour earlier than she was expecting me!

(PS, and yes, I stood out in it all day too, as my feet will readily testify!) I would have thought that by now you would have known the answer to that problem, invest in a decent pair of boots.
