TJ Hughes do a nice line in flat caps, otherwise 'period dress means NO dayglo orange/yellow jackets or shellsuits (calm down, calm down). Period style marshals armbands will be provided. All the competitors wear full period gear & must keep their hats on while completing the 'test' !!(Not stage as thats a modern term). There will be a prize for the best 'period' marshal. Remember Leyland with Ian & Martin in their 'Brooklands' dust coats? Murphy's various outfits & Alan Jones 'dapper' look? PS marshals with period cars are very welcome too!!!!

Thanks to all those who have volunteered so far , BUT it's all the usual suspects i.e. committee, regular marshals etc. Where are all you other club members? Regular competitors maybe can't marshal at our sprints/trackdays but whats your excuse this time? LMC has 100 plus members so come on & support YOUR club !

well i'll be there come rain hail or shine! Is there a prefered method of getting there, or even a convoy from liverpool going?
Period clothing you say, what period though? the website doesn't give me much of an idea and i know it might be an obvious question to some but i haven't a clue what time period its meant to be!
does sound like it will be a good laugh though.

RoT represents the rallies of the late 50's/early 60's i.e. before the era of special stage events. All the competitors/event officials wear period clothing, it's optional for marshals but does add to the fun! Basically some form of headgear was 'de rigeur' at that time so get down the charity shop or borrow grandads flat cap or trilby! More info on getting there, times etc. will be posted ASAP

Cheeers Ian I was counting on you anyway! Pity we can't get the same enthusiasm from other members!! ???We have a good turn out so far but the more the merrier (& it would be nice to see a few different faces) So far all the volunteers have been people who support the club all the time, plus a couple of new members who are keen to GET INVOLVED!!!

Looking like a good(ish) turnout, but more interest would be most appreciated. Now then, 'fraid my attire is going to be 2000 period I'm afraid. Might stretch to a flat 'at but otherwise it'll be a fleece or waterproof. I may well be the only one not wearing 1960's gear, but at least I'll be warm/dry!
Sudden thought. Won't the site's Health & Safety regs require high vis vests? It's a United Utilities site, and high vis is normally compulsory.

Just home after a super day at a very smelly Clifton Sewage Works! The Rally of the Tests was great, wide variety of cars from Minis via Alfas to Porsches. The club did well and with no major incidents so did the drivers!
