''The Goodwood of Historic Rallying'' The 2007 running of this event is from Scarborough to Blackpool (1st. to 4th.November). LMC have once again been invited to run a test, possibly in the Garstang, Preston or Blackpool area on Sunday 4th. The more volunteers we get the bigger, & better , our involvement (remember 2003 when we ran Leyland Test track & the final test at Blackpool?). For more info see www.classicrally.org.uk, and watch this space

I already have the dates in my diary so would love to get involved should the club be asked to marshal at one of the stages.

If you 'appen to be in Yorkshire on Friday 2nd. November watch out for proper rally cars!! Might I suggest a visit to the Tan Hill Inn (highest pub in England) to see the Rally of the Tests competitors roll up for a rest stop. I was just there recently for a pint of Real Ale & those moors are bleak, but utterly magnificent. ( see the website at http://www.tanhillinn.com) Closer to home on Sunday 4th. the rally visits a country estate, farms, a military establishment, sewage works & a stately home before finshing on Blackpool Promenade. I wonder where LMC will be marshalling ?

I should be able to help out at some of the dates the rally is running over (Nov 1st to 4th) sounds like it could be a truely fantastic once in a lifetime opportunity to see some very unique and interesting vehicles in some very different locations!
Got any further details on LMSC's role/interaction or is it worth just turning up?

OOPS! June would have been much nicer, or p'raps not with the weather we've been getting? Anyway colder weather improves the smell at the sewage works, err I mean Treatment Centre!

i should be good for that, clashes with the Tyne tour, but to be honest its become quite a boring arduous long kayak tour so this gives me a good excuse. Do we need to be taking cones/signs/barriers etc up there? Is it worth hiring a van?

Look no further than our treasurer for pointers as to the attire of a gentleman attending a motor racing meeting in the 1950s. If you haven't seen the picture of Jim and his pals at Oulton Park way back when most of us were in shorts or not even thought of then you've missed a beaut. Tweed cap, sports jacket, shirt and tie, raincoat deftly folded over the arm and binoculars and box brownie casually slung over the shoulder. Incredible. Those were the days. Geoff, hope to be there on the 4th in fleece jeans and waterproof, as usual, unless I'm dragged off kicking and screaming on holiday.

I'll be there.... in genuine period attire. Well, like moke, it will be the correct period attire for keeping warm/dry etc in 2007!
