for those who dont know me at the club, i have been marshalling now for 4 years with Liverpool MC, ( i own black MG ZR) anyway the second car i own is a rover mini, the downside of this is that it requires attention to the body work i.e new outer cill, boot repair. I have been trying for the last 4 months to find a welder to take on this task, but with no luck, as they dont want to do the work.
Is there anyone out there who may have done welding or they know anyone, this is my last resource, i would like very much to compete in this car next year in sprints.
Many thanks
Ian

i can lend you a welder (actually i can probably lend you one on a very long term basis), and show you at least some of the basics, after that its all practise practise practise oh and little bit of preparation!
There is a VERY good website dedicated to welding and learning to weld, i'll dig the address out when i get home. For a complete novice the Haynes book on how to weld is quite good too, i can possibly email that to you.
My uncle is a fabricator and welder for an engineering company in chester, they do a lot of BAE contracts and that where i learn to weld, but there back 'on season' so wont have much if any time till next summer which isnt much use!
From what i gather you can still buy every single panel for a mini so it should be a case of just welding them in?

heres a link to the MIG welding website, the forum area will find you answers for stick welding too, but its a brilliant resource for getting started; www.mig-welding.co.uk/at the moment i'm a stick man but only because i havent had a mig welder materialise infront of me for free in the same way the two stick welders appeared

Suggest you don't leave you email address and phone number to the spammers (they'll sign you up for all kinds of nasties if you leave numbers on forums!).
How are you fixed on Saturday? Will email my number over now.
